Dr Crokes B wins nineth O’Sullivan Cup

Dr.Crokes were victorious in the final of the East Kerry Junior Championship, sponsored by O'Sullivan Cycles & Outdoor Centre, with an easy victory over a Glenflesk side who failed to score in the second half. The game was played in Fossa on Sunday evening last. After early chances missed by both sides, Dr.Crokes kicked the opening point in the fourth minute from Andrew Kennelly. Glenflesk replied with a Gavin Kelly point. Dr.Crokes had a chance of a goal in the eighth minute only for Shane O'Neill's effort going wide of the post. It was Glenflesk who went ahead with a Ciaran T. O'Donoghue point. Dr. Crokes were level in the seventeenth minute with a Brendan Falvey free, for a foul on Mike Moloney. Glenflesk regained the lead a minute later, with a point from a Stephen O'Donoghue free and Gavin Kelly extended the lead with a point from an acute angle. In the twenty first minute Dr. Crokes, Luke Quinn, goaled after a well worked movement involving several players. Shane O'Neill added a point to leave Dr.Crokes ahead 1-3 to 0-2. Glenflesk replied with a Kieran Murphy point before Dr. Crokes kicked the final points of the half from boot of Gavin Tucker and a Brendan Falvey free for a foul on Andrew Kennelly. Half Time Score: Dr. Crokes 1-5, Glenflesk 0-5.

Both sides were guilty of several missed scores in the third quarter and it took all of seventeen minutes for the next score a Gavin O'Shea point. In the nineteenth minute, Dr.Crokes struck for a second goal with Gavin O'Shea setting up Andrew Kennelly for a well worked goal. Dr.Crokes added further points from Brendan Falvey and Andrew Kennelly. In the final minute Subtitute Joe Keogh struck for another Dr.Crokes goal and leave Dr.Crokes easy winners over a Glenflesk side who failed to score in the second half. Full Time Score Dr.Crokes 3-8, Glenflesk 0-5 After the game Mrs Kathleen O'Sullivan with East Kerry Committee Chairman Tim Ryan presented the O'Sullivan Cup to Dr.Crokes winning captain Andrew Kennelly. The man of the match was presented by Con O'Sullivan to Dr. Crokes wing back Jason Lyne.
